I tried one of those rabbit ears antenna to pick up my local HDTV stations. After moving it around a bit, I was able to pick up CBS and NBC. But I really wanted Fox and ABC (Idol and Lost respectively). So I got myself a $30 amplified indoor antenna from RadioShack. It 'sort of' works. I can get CBS, Fox and ABC if I position the antenna in a weird way. But I lose NBC. I ordered a $50 antenna from Best Buy, let's see if more money equals better equipment. It certainly looks more expensive. I'll find out tomorrow if it was worth it. I will keep the better one and return the other. SD looks so bad now.

Microsoft HD-DVD Player I went HD-DVD. I got the add-on player for the Xbox 360, it looks pretty good too. I still watch a lot of stuff on regular DVDs so I hope this doesn't spoil me too much. The only material I've seen is the included King Kong (yuck!). I hope to never see another movie this bad. One thing I really like is the new menu system, being able to navigate them while a movie plays is pretty cool, not sure how it helps anything though.

24 Season 1 While waiting for Lost to restart, I started renting 24. I have to say that it is pretty damn good. It took me about 3 episodes (hours) to get hooked. It is a pretty unique series, there are 24 episodes in a season, each being 1 hour of real time events (actually 40 minutes accounting for commercials). So each season is 1 day in the life of Jack, a federal agent. This may seem drawn out, but it actually moves a lot faster than Lost. I think they are already up to season 6, so I got a lot of catching up to do.

Microsoft XNA It looks like XNA has been brought out of beta. Still no Vista support though. I think it might be time to dust of my DirectX books.

I wish there was a sleep feature on the 360. Usually I try to watch one of my Blockbuster subscription rentals before I go to sleep, but I rarely ever get through the whole movie in one night. I set the sleep on my TV but the 360 stays on all night. I hope the spring update includes this.
